VIVID MAIL is designed
for those who heavily rely on email in their business.
Or just prefer email to any
other way of communication.
VIVID MAIL program is
not trying to compete with such giants as Outlook
Express, Outlook, Netscape etc.
Instead it is viewed as very handy tool
to be used between your
email sessions.
Let us
say you are visiting your client. And you want to quickly check
your email. You are in
very tricky situation. You cannot say: let me use
your box, configure your email
program, add new email account
to your list and check my emails. Not
that many people like
when
somebody is mucking around with their emails. After all it can
have some private
stuff. And even if you dare do this, you
still have very hard decision to make
– what to do with this account
of yours after. To delete it and show your
clients that you do not
trust
them or to leave it and let anybody read you emails any
time
he/she wants...
There is another option
– you produce floppy, launch miniature
VIVID MAIL program and get access
to your emails.
So you do it without invading your client’s privacy
and
without
exposing yours.
Important thing is VIVID MAIL does
not delete emails from
the server by default. So you get them later
with your main email
program when you are home.
Email settings
You need to configure
your email account once.
Good news if you use any standard email program,
you know how
to do that. So you can even borrow those settings
from your current email program.
If it is Outlook Express, go Tools ->
Accounts -> Properties -> Servers tab (or
Advanced tab for ports).
If you like your
password you can use it. Every now you get absolutely
unbearable one from your Internet
provider like dg34ivt876djer.
It is nothing next to
impossible to
remember such "word".
So VIVID MAIL offers
a simple alternative.
In this
case, or if you just want to use some easy to
remember/type short password, you can
employ the Password alias.
VIVID MAIL expects you to type it each
time
you start the
program. It is just for your security. You carry this
program around so eventually you will
forget it somewhere.
Everybody does. Or you
might want to leave this program on your
client's machine and not to worry that your
emails have more
than one reader...
The logic here is simple – to
be able to
define/change
that alias you should prove to the program that you are
legitimate user. So you
have to login first time with
your
Internet provider's
password and if it works – set-up
alias.
You can redefine this
alias as many times as you wish.
The rule is the same –
get your emails with your provider password
or previous valid alias to prove that
you are not a hacker
and then define new alias.
